There is always a lot to learn about your mountain bike if you are new to the sport. For instance the top tube on your bike, which you will find running horizontally from your post seat, is attached to the mountain bike?s headset, just as the down tube is as well. Are you lost yet? In addition the bike?s head tube is also connected for a better ride comfort to a set of front suspension forks. This actually is the essential mechanism that always holds your bike?s front wheel in place at the front of the bike.
And to these forks your mountain bike front shock absorbers will be attached on most mtb bikes. This of course assumes that you do have a set of front shock absorbers at the front of your mountain bike. These again are a pretty much essential item for off-road trails and a mountain bike without them is going to be a very hard ride and the control you get at speed will be nowhere near as good as on a bike that has them! The whole point of a mountain bike is to ride trails in the forests, or across fields and up and down hills and with front shocks this type of riding is going to be hard and probably a little bit dangerous too.
You will find that the wheels themselves also consist of a large number of different parts that you can learn all about later. If you are looking for a mountain bike for sale then there is a lot you need to learn first. But when you have been out riding on rough tracks it is always a good idea to check the frame occasionally and just make really sure that there are no signs of any small hairline cracks in the frame and the weld joints and that everything on your mountain bike still looks in the best condition, because whenever you find a problem however small you should get it fixed before riding you bike again.
