As Mom Sees It: Food fight! Where's the prime real estate in your ...

FOOD FIGHT!! Whoa, whoa - before you start throwing your yogurt and baked beans all willy-nilly, I was actually referring to that prime fridge real estate over which everyone in the house fights. We have an older fridge, so it's deep, short and narrow; three features about which I'm not happy.

I love seeing all the new refrigerators that are hitting the market with their fancy sliding glass shelves and air filters and ice makers - sadly, though, it's like test driving a brand new car then having to drive your piece of scrap metal home. LG even has a fridge that has a door-in-door feature for easy access to the more popular foods in your house and less cold air escapes from the rest of the fridge. How cool is that?

So that brings me back to our FOOD FIGHT! The prime fridge real estate at our house is the door; we like to keep our favorites there because in our short, stubby fridge, they just get lost in a sea of whatever. The fridge door is key because the food is easy to find, but as you know, it can become the messiest part because everything gets put there. Ella and Garrett like to have their yogurt there, I like to have the juice there and if I could, I'd put our yummy summer melons there along with G's and E's Lunchables. Hence, the regular food fights.

For those quick trips to the fridge, the Door-in-Door is a magnetically sealed section of the refrigerator that allows you to access the door bin without opening the entire refrigerator. Due to the Door-In-Door feature, less cool air escapes when the easy access compartment is opened, keeping cold air in the rest of the fridge, where it matters most. Whether it's a refreshing drink, condiments or a healthy snack, the Door-in-Door is the ideal space for quick access to your family's go-to foods such as canned or bottled drinks, salad dressings and condiments.
